After a coffee stop I rode my bike back to the rental place then met Erin at the Union Square Green Market - a farmers' market in Union Square. We spent most of the morning/afternoon shopping - or more accurately window shopping. A highlight was the Chelsea Market where we ate lunch, but also checked out many boutiques, artist markets, and all sorts of other spots.
Market Crowds
We picked up a nice little selection of stone fruits to snack on for the rest of the trip.
The oldest statue in Manhattan - depicting George Washington re-entering New York after the Revolutionary War.
We also happened upon "Summer Streets" - New York had 7 miles of roadways closed to cars for recreation. Tons of people were out riding, running & walking. Very cool. This section of Park Ave. was closed from 7am-1pm
We had walked a ton this day and decided to start making our way back towards the room. We stopped at this bar in L.E.S. called The Ten Bells. It specialized in natural wines which is something I have wanted to try for a while. They had a $15 happy hour carafe of a red one so we went with that. We weren't hungry yet but the tapas we saw going 'round looked really good. I still really like the Lower East Side even though many of the joints I used to visit have closed(probably priced out).
Erin decided to rest her feet for a bit - I probably should have too but instead I went for a photo walk.
Manhattan Bridge approach.
I walked through China Town shooting my vintage Kodak camera - haven't had the chance to develop those rolls yet.

Just more proof that pedestrians not cars should rule a city.

"but who will eat here if there is no parking?" right? wrong.

Remember when the Chrysler building looked tall?!
Coffee Bar NY-->OHIO
A serious game of something under the Manhattan Bridge.
I walked back to the room and met up with Erin. Our next plan was to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and find dinner and drinks on that side of the river. I'm going to post that as its own photo essay though.
