Old Roll

Arc de Triomphe
I really like this image of the Arc de Triomphe because it shows the scale of it that you don't notice in the wide shots down the Champs-Élysées. It is from a roll of Kodak Tri-X that I had forgotten was in my Minolta X-700. I just developed it the other day in HC-110 dilution b. It looks like I finished off the roll last srping in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park when photographing the Virginia Blue Bells as I do every year.

Winter in the Falls

Ice II
Last week I went for a brief photowalk in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls. It was very cold and I didn't last as long as I wanted to and bailed on a few plans which I guess I'll save for later. But it was really cool in High Bridge Glens with the ice formations.  I'm glad I got out for a bit.

Golden Hour Ride

Golden Hour
Well, this has been a weird winter needless to say... last evening it was 50 degrees and sunny so I decided to go for a ride and take some photos. I brought my Canon 6D and 40mm pancake lens. I was mainly getting a few shots for my cycling IG - ZipperCityCycles - but it was so pretty out that I kind of wish I had brought the good gear. It was a perfect "golden hour" evening and I snapped a few images that I really like in the Summit Lake area.

Safe Words and More!

White Lighter
Friday night was a fun one. We started off in the Valley celebrating Brad's birthday at Sushi Katsu, met a few more friends for cocktails at the Spotted Owl and then headed up to the Matinee to see Safe Words & White Lighter.

Couple Studio Things

Kodak Things
I had the studio set up to do some product photography and after I decided to shoot a couple images for the Instagram accounts. Above is a few of my favorite Kodak items that I've collected over the years. Which also reminded me that I would like to update my vintage camera page this winter - it has been a while. Below(or after the jump) is a vintage cyclocross frame a friend gave me. He bought the complete bike on eBay but it turned out the frame was bent. He gave it to me figuring I could use the vintage Italian and French components.

Another Cold Ride

Last night my cycling group took a mixed terrain route out to Hoppin' Frog Brewery. Some of the off road bits are supposed to eventually be a new bike trail through Akron. Its fun to ride them now - you are in the heart of the city then all of sudden in the woods. I just let the GoPro run on my handle bars the whole ride there and then edited this together. The hyper smooth that is so amazing during the day doesn't work that well at night - but it is still better than my old GoPro when it comes to the shakes.

RatzMas 2019

Every year my cycling group does our holiday RatzMas ride on the Wednesday nearest to Christmas. This year it was a full week out with the holiday falling on a Wednesday. It was only 19 degrees and I didn't capture any footage out on the trails(mostly because of the heavy doubled up gloves) but I did after our brewery stops when we rode in this old factory. I used this video to experiment with video transitions that I wouldn't use in my professional work...

Happy New Year

NYE
I hope that everyone had a awesome holiday season. I had a great time seeing so many friends and family members - even though it sometimes felt like it was hard to get work done. In my mind it feels like I did a weeks worth of work over four weeks. Anyways - I'm ready to get back to it in 2020 full speed ahead. I'm looking forward to working with some new clients and contacts and continuing projects with current and long term clients. I also have plans for some personal creative projects that I look forward to posting on this blog.
At the start of the decade photography was still mostly just a hobby for me - I ended it owning my own studio - so on a professional level the last 10 years have been a complete success....
