The third Jan'e walk I participated in took place on Saturday evening - it followed in the footsteps of the ArtWalk and was led by Suzie Graham. The ArtWalk takes place the first Saturday of each month. We started at the Summit ArtSpace, walked down Market to the Historic Cultural District, and then to Northside.
"On Market"
"Crossing Market" - the old Carnegie Library in the background.
In the "Historic Cultural District" - the Art Museum behind.
Discussing all the great spots to stop in the district.
Walking by another on of the pieces in the Akron Art Museum's "Inside Out" series.
"Rounding the Bend"
In front of the Austin Bionivation Institute.
"Main Street"
"Northside"
The worst intersection in Downtown Akron. The Northside and north side of Main were completely cut off by the Innerbelt.
Hotel Mathews Monument - a monument to the great Jazz Club/Hotel that once stood on this site - and the black entertainment district that once existed.
The Hotel Mathews Monument from the front.
Another problem with fixing the intersection is the train tracks.
"Walking in Northside" - there are multiple good galleries over here. The new construction in the back will be a hotel.
"Wrap Up" in front of Zeber-Martell Gallery.
