Jane's Walk Four

Jane's Walk
On Sunday afternoon I took part in my last Jane's Walk of the weekend - this time it was Portage Lakes led by Kaley Foster. The tour was shorter on walking than many - which demonstrated one of the challenges of the area - that it is not particularly pedestrian(or bike) friendly. The walk was long on information and discussion though - and finished with a trolley ride through the beautiful Lakes on a perfect day.

"Big Turnout"
A majority of the group was from Portage Lakes.
Jane's Walk
Discussing plans for better sidewalks - especially when the Army Core rebuilds the dam.

"Portage Lakes Brewing"
They had and amazing beer selection here.

Jane's Walk
Inside the old Ohio Bell building. We were informed how well the building was built because how important it was - had to keep those phone lines open!
Jane's Walk
"Down in the Basement"
There is the possibility that Portage Lakes Brewing might use some of the space to brew - the rest would be storage units.

Jane's Walk
Looking towards the clocktower - where the sidewalks extend 20 feet in each directions - then stop.
Jane's Walk
"Docks"
A building was recently torn down here - there is much discussion about how this space could best be used - including much lobbying for a Swenson's.
Jane's Walk
"On the Trolley"
We were commenting how nice it was to be able to ride around the lakes and take in all the sites and spots while not being the driver. There were a few spots that I would be interested in returning to check out on a pretty summer day. It was also cool to see some the neighborhood areas on streets that I probably wouldn't have driven down otherwise.
Jane's Walk
We ended up at 'On Tap' the former Harbor Inn - one of the best patios in the area.
Jane's Walk
The bar was packed - the owner allowed us to sit on his boat and enjoy our beers - a great way to wind down the weekend of walks.
