Saturday night The Beyonders put together a show for the release of their first CD. They played with Cleveland power pop band Herzog and Akron surf band The Kahuna Kings. I've been friends with Beyonders' guitar player Dave Rich since I used to play in bands and at this point I could probably put together a real nice photo book of his musical projects over the years. In fact it is pretty much how I learned to shoot concert photography...
The Kahuna Kings opened the show up and put on a surf rock clinic. Dave said he found them by Googling "Akron surf bands" - and they agreed to play their first show ever. They were awesome - if you like anything surfy you'll love them. Check out some of their recorded music on SoundCloud. I've been rocking out to this all morning while editing photos.
It was hard to believe these guys hadn't played out before.
"Rockin" "Trouble in Paradise" "Akron Surf Rock" "History Lesson in Surf Terms" 85mm @ f/1.8 "Herzog" I'm surprised I haven't seen these guys before - they have three albums out(check them out here ). "More Herzog"
"On Bass"
"Open-Mouthed" "The Beyonders" - they rocked just like usual. "Thrashy-surf-rock"? I'm not titling all these photos - you know what you're looking at.
