On Saturday afternoon Erin and I loaded up our bikes and rode down to River's Edge Campground a few miles outside of Massillon. The campground is only for Towpath users and its a really nice spot with a firepit and benches overlooking the Tuscarawas River. We made a few brew and diner stops along the way. It was a fun but short getaway.
I rigged up an old holster bag of mine to my handle bars - it made it so much easier to ride and shoot at the same time. Here I was testing it out along Summit Lake.
We stopped in Barberton to check out Ignite Brewing. The Mumfest was on so there was a good crowd all over the downtown.
We had stopped in here onetime before they were officially open - I was iffy on the beers then but I felt like they were much better now. Both we had were excellent.
They did have a food truck but our goal was to hold off on dinner until we got to Canal Fulton.
...and here we are parked at the Miller Doan Tavern in Canal Fulton.
They had an Octoberfest menu and our food was awesome.
Back on the path and hoping to set up camp before sunset.
The cheap 50mm I bring on these trips takes some nice photos when used right.
We set up camp then started calling around to find some wood. We had passed a bar that had a fire out back and they offered to sell us some.
Wood Haulers
Erin getting the fire going.
This back-packing tent wasn't cheap but it is extremely portable.
Erin got the fire going in the morning - for warmth and for coffee.
Bike and the River
After hanging out by the fire we rode into town for some more coffee and a snack.
Next we rode to check out Ernie's Bike Shop - these were some super cool Trek Race Bikes - US Postal Era.
With my new camera bag set-up I find I take so many more photos while moving.
Paradigm Shift Brewing in Massillon. Ben and I had stopped her on our trip over the 4th of July but I forgot to take and photos.
This building next door to brewery was interesting.
After our beers we started toward home.
