For the second year in a row we went out to Connecticut to ride an event called Nutmeg Nor'easter. The event is almost all the way on the coast(Long Island Sound) so it is to far to travel and not make more of a trip out of. So we packed a number of other rides and stops into a full week of travelling. It was peak Fall color in New England and we had a great time. As a cycling trip I did focus more energy on the YouTube video than the still but I did snap some that I really like - follow along below.
We stopped in Albany, NY for the night to break up the drive a bit but not be too far from where we were heading the next day. We rode out to dinner and then hit a brewery and cocktail bar.
In the morning we went for a breakfast ride and explored the city - again - not a lot of photos since we were riding but a lot over on YT.
We then drove to our Air Bnb in Old Saybrook on Long Island Sound. We got there in time to catch a beautiful sunset.
We also met up with Party Size Cycling from New Jersey.
We had an awesome 10ish mile ride over to a brewery for dinner.
Waiting for the ferry in Chester - the begining of Nutmeg. Nutmeg was an overnight bike-packing trip this year.
On the Ferry
About ten miles into the ride there was a stop at JP Weigle's wroshop - he is a legendary frame builder and I snapped a lot of photos at his place.
Unlimited pizza at the last stop for the first day. It was just a climb up to the camping spot after this.
Beautiful light while scouting out the tent site.
I actually took a few riding photos on day 2.
We ended the day at a brewery back in Chester. Ben rode to get the car and get us back to the Air BnB in Old Saybrook.
The next day we drove to a campground on the Hudson River and then rode to the Old Croton Dam - it was amazing!
Another ride through the woods on our way to a brewery for dinner.
It started pouring rain - so we decided to figure out how to catch the train back to camp.
I wish we had public transportation like this around home.
This is the next day - we were riding our bike down the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail into NYC - searching for lunch here.
First glimpse of the NYC skyline from under the GW Bridge.
We stopped for a few photos before heading over the Brooklyn Bridge to our Air BnB. We had a night on the town but I didn't take any photos.
Breakfast the next day.
Lunch
We spent the day riding everwhere around the city.
Break in Central Park.
Dinner at The Ten Bells
Breakfast the next day at Buvette before riding out of the city.
Final coffe on our way home in State College, PA.
