Bikes and Brews in PA

Erie Ale Works
Erin and I decided to take Good Friday off and head on a short road trip. We stayed a little ways outside of Erie, PA at a camp ground/RV park and spent our first day on Presque Isle and then exploring the city. The next day the weather was iffy so we decided to travel around a bit - we visited a few towns and multiple breweries. I always enjoy trips on the back roads with no serious agenda.

Cabin
Our little cabin. It was kind of like a step above tent camping - no water but we had electric - it was a single room big enough for a bed and a mini fridge. It was a perfect place to stay with the weather being unpredictable.
Breakfast
Starting off the day with some breakfast on our covered porch.
Perry Monument
We then took out bikes to Presque Isle and rode the 14 miles or so of trails around the peninsula.

Presque Isle
Lake Erie - it was a very windy day.
Presque Isle
Presque Isle has a bunch of pretty beaches - it would be a great swim spot in the summer.

The Brewerie
Our next stop downtown was The Brewerie at Union Station. The main part of the old train station was converted into the brewery/restaurant.
The Brewerie
We had a good lunch and the beers were solid - this is Erie's oldest craft brewery.

I had a smoked beer here that was really good. I also shot some black and white film on the trip.
Erie Ale Works
Our last stop of the day was Erie Ale Works. A nano brewery.

Enjoying a flight - the tables are set up in the middle of the brewery.
Campfire
We picked up a crowler and went back to the park and had a fire.
Flip Cafe
The next morning we packed up and headed to the small town of Edinboro and had breakfast at the Flip Cafe. The food was fantastic.
Sprague Farm & Brew Works
Our next stop was really cool - Sprague Farm & Brew Works. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere but was a farm that grew their own ingredients for their beer. This was the brewery version of a winery. The beer I had was really good and its a place I can see going back to to try more at some point.
Sprague Farm & Brew Works
It started to rain so we enjoyed our beers on the covered part of the deck.

It was raining pretty good by this time so instead of exploring the town we decided to move on.

We then grabbed a coffee across the street at Generations Coffee House and hit the road for home.... A great couple day trip.
